“If you don’t make your way, you’ll be in the way.”

    -John Salley

*******How true is this!  You HAVE to take action and make concerted efforts to achieve your goals and make your dreams come true.  You can’t just dream, wish and hope and stand there waiting for it to happen.  Inevitably, someone else with your same hopes, wishes and dreams will be paving their way and will plow over you in the process.  Look at all the people you admire.  Have you ever read their biographies?  That’s the best way to get an idea of what you need to do to get to where you want to be.  Pave your own way so you will be the one figuratively (and respectfully) plowing people over.  Not the other way around.*******

    (transitive verb)

    1. to represent falsely; ‘He spoke roughly in order to belie his air of gentility’ (James Joyce): “Jack is ready for a low-maintenance girl who does not belie her beauty with makeup strata.”

    2. to be in contradiction with; ‘The evidence belies the testimony of the witness’; ‘At first glance, life at the boarding school seemed to belie all the bad things I had heard about it.’

    noun form: belier

From before 1000; from Middle English, ‘bilien’; from Old English, ‘beleogan’: to deceive with lies; ultimately from a prehistoric Germanic word that is also the ancestor of German, ‘belügen.’

*******Do your actions belie your thoughts?  It’s time to change that.  If you think you are the best and the skills you possess are sub-par,  it’s time to change that.  Set your pride aside and take a course, read a book, or train with a superior or mentor.  If you believe and say you love someone, but don’t take the time to really talk with them, hug them, care for them and be there whenever they need you, it’s time to change that.  Pick up the phone, write a note, look into their eyes while conversing, embrace them for an extended period and be there to uphold and uplift them when life tries to knock them down.  It’s not hard to stay true to your true self.  People appreciate it when you do.*******

    New Guy At Work

I was sitting at my desk minding my own business when a Greek God walked out of the door across the hall.  He didn’t see me at first so I waited patiently until he looked over at me.  And boy did he!  I think time stood still for a moment!  I smiled, but he didn’t smile back.  He just stared.  Then he got on the elevator.  Tomorrow’s a new day!
