“By and large, there is no such thing as “Something for Nothing”.  In the long run, you get exactly that for which you pay, whether you are buying an automobile or a loaf of bread.”  -Napolean Hill

*******I know what you’re gonna say, “You can get something for nothing.  I’ve gotten plenty of things for nothing!”  That may very well be true, but what were those things really worth in the end?  More than likely, what you got fell apart (literally or figuratively) somewhere along the way.  You’d be much better off saving up (literally or figuratively) for what you really want.  Be it, the new Sony flatscreen instead of Tony’s new flatscreen (cheesy much, but you get my point), or the new Vera Wang dress instead of the knock-off with crooked stitching, or a new relationship that you are able to give of yourself wholeheartedly to instead of half-@$$edly (not in Webster’s dictionary, but it’s in Shyra’s dictionary 😉 ).  It’s always your choice to go the cheap route when you don’t have much to spare, or to wait until you can afford the best.  Truthfully, it all depends on how much you like living with regrets.*******

(transitive verb)

1. to corrupt morally: “Holly is quite sure that my work will deprave youthful minds.”

noun forms: depravation, depraver

Approximately 1376; from Middle English, ‘depraven’: to vilify, to corrupt; from Old French, ‘depraver’; from Latin, ‘depravare’: to corrupt (‘de-‘: completely + ‘pravus’: crooked).

*******Hollywood has a knack for being able to deprave the youth that have been able to strike gold and cross the threshold into it’s inner sanctum.  Although it’s quite common now, it’s still shocking when you witness a starlet succumb to the pressures of all that glitters.  In case you’ve been locked inside your own mind for the past 10 years, I’ll rattle off a list of the living and deceased, young and not-so-young, that caved when the pressure mounted.  Lindsay Lohan, Britney Spears, Jamie Lynn Spears, Kurt Cobain, Martin Lawrence, Dave Chappelle, Whitney Houston, Bobby Brown, Drew Barrymore, Mariah Carey, Heath Ledger, River Phoenix, Elvis Presley, Marilyn Monroe, Josephine Baker, Ike Turner, James Brown, Rick James (I’ve resisted quoting Dave Chappelle for the sake of sincerity), Dennis Rodman, Nick Nolte, Anna Nicole Smith, Paris Hilton, Nicole Richie, Mel Gibson, John Candy, Chris Farley, Brad Renfro, Miley Cyrus a.k.a Hannah Montana (not as bad as she could be, but is on a fast track to nowhere), Michael Jackson, LaToya Jackson…I’m tired.  I know I’ve missed names, but I rattled off the brunt of them.  It’s just sad to see them go down like that.  Some of them have bounced back brilliantly (Mariah Carey) and others (Whitney Houston)…well…let’s just say a prayer for them.*******
