    Motivational Quote/Word/Videos of the Day-31 July 2008

    MOTIVATIONAL QUOTE OF THE DAY

“When you are clear, what you want will show up in your life, and only to the extent you are clear.”  -Janet Attwood, Author of “The Passion Test – The Effortless Path to Discovering Your Destiny

BRIAN ENO- AND THEN SO CLEAR  *******Ok…this song just put me in such a blissful trance that I think I still haven’t come completely out of to write this.  Or maybe it’s another track of his I’m playing called “Among Fields of Crystal”.  What?!  Why didn’t know about him before?  I’m buying this CD…seriously.*******

    WORD OF THE DAY

    LIMN

    (transitive verb)
    [lim]

    1. to describe in words: “He would limn key moments of the dialogue, but most of the scenes were mimed.”
    2. to trace the shape of; to depict in a painting or drawing

    noun form: limner

    Origin:
Approximately 1420; from Middle English, ‘limnen’: to illuminate (a manuscript), probably an alteration of ‘luminen’ (influenced by ‘limnour’: illustrator); from Old French, ‘luminer’; from Latin, ‘luminare’; to illuminate, from ‘lumen’: radiant energy, light.

AZ YET- LAST NIGHT  *******Well, this is an old favorite of mine and it is by far the BEST description I’ve ever heard about last night.  Wow…I need a cold shower now!!!  😉 *******

    Motivational Quote/Word/Videos of the Day-30 July 2008

    MOTIVATIONAL QUOTE OF THE DAY

“If you look at what you have in life, you’ll always have more.  If you look at what you don’t have in life, you’ll never have enough.”  -Oprah Winfrey, Television Host/Actress/Producer

BASHAR ON ABUNDANCE AND TRUSTING WHAT IS  *******At first I was struck with the oddness of this man’s character.  Then I HAD to toss all judgments aside because the words he spoke and the manner in which he spoke them, floored me and had all of my synapses firing at once!  I’ve never heard the “Law of Abundance” put in such a manner that left me without a shred of a doubt as to it’s effectiveness if I practiced what was preached.  All I can say now is, “Well, ok then.  I’ll do it.”  It was just that simple.  I visited Darryl Anka’s website at http://www.bashar.org/HOMEMAIN.html and discovered a whole lot more than I had anticipated.  You’ll have to visit the site to see what I mean.  😉  Ha!  There’s your homework for the day.  His personal note under the “About” tab helped reel me back in because up until then…let’s just say…whatever gets him through the day, gets him through the day.  And I say, “Live and let live!” as long as no harm is done to another in the process.  So, hulabaloo aside, I’m diggin’ the message…thus far…  🙂 *******

    WORD OF THE DAY

    WANGLE

    • \WANG-gul\ verb

1 : to adjust or manipulate for personal or fraudulent ends
*2 : to make or get by devious means : finagle

    Example Sentence:

Steve didn’t tell Sharon how he’d wangled an extra week of vacation, and she didn’t care as long as it meant they could go to Greece for their honeymoon.

    Did you know?

“Wangle,” a verb of uncertain origin, has been used in its newest sense, “to obtain by sly methods,” since at least the early 20th century. Occasionally, one sees “wrangle” used similarly, as in “wrangle a huge salary,” but more typically it means “to argue or engage in controversy.” Did the “obtain” sense of “wrangle” evolve through confusion with “wangle”? Not exactly. “Wrangle” was used with the meaning “to obtain by arguing or bargaining” as early as 1624, long before “wangle” appeared in the language. The sense had all but disappeared until recent decades, however, and its revival may very well have been influenced by “wangle.” The “obtain” sense of “wangle” is currently more common than that of “wrangle,” but both are considered standard.

*Indicates the sense illustrated in the example sentence.

DOVE EVOLUTION  *******She’s a real beauty!  A real Photoshop beauty that is.  I know the ways of the world because I’ve been a model.  I watched a photographer manipulate my photos so much that I didn’t even use them because I couldn’t recognize myself!  I’ve had bags under my eyes since I was a baby.  I also have a surgical scar in my left underarm.  Editing those out along with scars from my days as a tomboy are fine, but I don’t approve of making my lips fuller and my cheekbones higher.  They’re fine the way they are.  The trouble is, young girls see these ads and lose their self-esteem when they figure out they can’t look the way these models do.  Little do they know that the models WISH they really looked as good as their doctored photos!  The beauty industry preys and thrives upon the low self-esteemed sector of the population.  How else do you explain $28 billion in sales?  I do applaud Dove for creating the campaign for real beauty to help foster high self-esteem in young girls.  It’s important for them to know and love themselves for who they are because insecure adolescents become insecure adults.  We all love being in relationships with insecure people don’t we?  I think not.*******

    The Monday Funnies-28 July 2008

KATT WILLIAMS  *******This is actually the cleanest video I found of Katt’s performances.  He had to clean it up for BET, but that’s alright with me because Sinbad and Bill Cosby have made me laugh just as hard as Katt does without uttering a single curse word.  I still love Katt Williams though.  I just have to make sure the kiddies can’t hear him!  Especially the part about Snoop.  Don’t mess with the professionals!  ;)*******
