MOTIVATIONAL QUOTE OF THE DAY

“Plenty of people miss their share of happiness, not because they never found it, but because they didn’t stop to enjoy it.”  -William Feather 1889-1981, Writer

BOYZ II MEN-YESTERDAY (BEATLES COVER)  *******Although I love both versions, I am more familiar with this one.  I also enjoy the heartfelt soulful harmony the “Boyz” brought to it.  No one likes longing for yesterday, but you’d be hard-pressed trying to find someone that hasn’t or won’t eventually.  Hopefully, we learn from our mistakes and do things the right way if we’re given another try.*******

WORD OF THE DAY

SUPERANNUATED

• \soo-per-AN-yuh-way-tud\ adjective

1 : outmoded, old-fashioned
2 a : incapacitated or disqualified for active duty by advanced age
*b : older than the typical member of a specified group

Example Sentence:

The article focused on senior citizens who retired from the workplace and returned to school to become superannuated graduate students.

Did you know?

“Superannuated” was first put to use in English in the 1600s, having been borrowed from Medieval Latin “superannuatus,” the past participle of “superannuari” (“to be too old”) — from Latin “super-” (“over” or “above”) and “annus” (“year”). Shortly thereafter, we made our own verb, “superannuate,” from the adjective. “Superannuate” meant “to retire and pension because of age or infirmity” as well as “to declare obsolete,” meanings that are still in active service. “Superannuated” can mean “outmoded or old-fashioned,” as in “superannuated slang” or “superannuated neckties,” or it can simply mean “older than usual,” as in our example sentence.

JACKIE FRANCOIS-OLD FASHIONED LOVE SONG *******This is such a pretty song.  I’ll have to check out some more of Jackie’s songs.  One viewer was harsh with his comment on her using the same title Paul Williams used for his song.  Many songs share titles.  That doesn’t mean you have to compare the artists.  Especially when you compare an unsigned singer/songwriter to a Grammy award winning artist that wrote hits for The Carpenters and Three Dog Night!  I don’t understand some people.  Hwhy (yes, hwhy) dontcha just let the girl sing her song?  Geez!!! 😉 *******

PAUL WILLIAMS-JUST AN OLD FASHIONED LOVE SONG  *******Still a great song!  I grew up with my Mom blaring love songs from KOST 103.5 and this brings back fond memories of cruisin’ the freeways between LA and Orange County.*******
